I sat through a work dinner where a supplier kept making offensive jokes about Jews

I was at dinner with a number of coworkers and a supplier who decided to tell “jokes.” The very first was “What is the favorite line of Jews in football…..Get the quarter back.” Of course, I, like 99.99% of Jews, just shrugged it off and gave him a wincing look.

The problem is that it was expected that I would think it was funny and that it foments the notion that Jews are cheap. Sadly, this goes along with hearing about someone being “Jewed” down. Even more disheartening is that we Jews, in order to be accepted, hear these canards from Jewish comedians and in synagogues and thus legitimize the stereotype for the rest of the world.
